THREE-year-old American-bred chestnut filly My Elle Belle, who threw away her chances at the starting gates on last, will be hoping to get things right this time around in the $1-million Errol “Big Sub” Subratie Memorial Cup feature at Caymanas Park today.

Running at the Overnight Allowance level for the first time on October 13 over nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m), My Elle Belle reared shortly after the gates opened and then darted to the outside rails, causing her rider Oneil Scott to lose control. Despite the setback, My Elle Belle still participated in the two turn event and finished in fifth place by a mere five lengths behind the top-three of Francia’s Pride, Supertronics and Bruce Wayne. If My Elle Belle comes to the racetrack in a good frame of mind, then she is going to prove very difficult to beat in a race of this nature.

The Errol “Big Sub” Subratie Memorial Cup, an Overnight Allowance event for three-year-olds and upward, is positioned as the seventh event on the 10-race programme and is set to go to post at 3:25 pm with first post at noon.

The Wayne DaCosta-trained Royal Vibes should be the main threat to My Elle Belle here. The eight-year-old bay gelding comes into this trophy race with the visor off and the blinkers on.

Royal Vibes returned from a five-month break on October 20 in a six-furlong (1,200m) event, where he finished in eighth place by over eight lengths. The race was won by Patriarch in 1:11.4 minutes and Royal Vibes came home in 1:13.3 minutes. Never a sprinter but that six furlongs was clearly a pipe-opener, and although up against younger and very competitive rivals, Royal Vibes might yet have something to offer here.

Good runs are expected to come from Bruce Wayne, Simply Outrageous and Supertronics, while Saratoga Sight, Birdie My Love and Biblical Legend should do themselves justice.
