Miss Kitty, LLB, valedictorian
Media personality Khadine “Miss Kitty” Hylton can add valedictorian to her list of accolades.
The vivacious radio and television host was among those selected to speak on behalf of the gradutating class at The University of the West Indies, Mona, yesterday. Hylton was received a Bachelor of Laws, her second degree from the university. She previously read for the Bachelor of Art with a major in English.
In Her address to the gathering, Hylton encouraged her fellow graduates to not see feel they have arrived, but rather to see it as the threshold of greater things to come.
“The motto of the university is, a light rising from the west. And we, the graduating class of 2018 will hope to be beacons of inspiration from the east, the west, the north and the south. Fellow graduates, like the catterpillar and the butterfly, we have survived that cathartic experience, we reach the rubicon, arriving as graduands and having crossed it as empiriously as Ceasar did in 49 BC, we have arrived as graduates,” said Hylton
“Having said arrived, it does not mean we have accomplished or actualised our full potential, but today it is safe to say that we, the graduating class of 2018 are on the cusp of greatness,” she added.
Ahead of her speech, hylton took to social media to share her thoughts.
“Today is a very special day for which I’m extremely grateful. I was nominated and chosen as valedictorian for the graduating class of 2018. I am so humbled and honoured to have been chosen and will do my best to represent my graduating class,” she said on Facebook.
