$5m worth of marijuana seized at Port of Kingston
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police seized more than 1000 pounds of marijuana at the Port of Kingston on Friday.
The Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) said 15 packages containing the drug were found in a container during a routine patrol of the port.
“When investigated, the packages were found to contain parcels of vegetable matter that was field tested to be marijuana weighing 1,156.2 lbs with an approximate street value of $5,781,000,” said JCA.
The matter is currently being investigated by the Border Protection Division of the Jamaica Customs Agency and the Jamaica Constabulary Force-Narcotics Division.
No arrest has been made in conjunction with the seizure.
