RACING NEWS FOR SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2018
DISTRICT ATTORNEY MAKES WINNING START
District Attorney ( Adore The Gold – Rip Current), trained by Spencer Chung, made a winning start to her career at Caymanas Park on Saturday.
The three-year-old bay filly had to fight all the way to earn her expected win, defeating Jammin by only a neck in a driving finish to win the Pick-3 “Simply Ting Fi Win” Trophy over five furlongs (1,000m) round.
District Attorney (Aaron Chatrie) was slowly into stride but recovered well and went down into third behind Parajet (Milton Powell) and Jammin (Shane Richardson) at the half mile.
District Attorney then drew alongside Jammin at the top of the lane and the two started to fight it out for the win. Jammin had the lead inside the final furlong (200m) but District Attorney got up in the nick of time. Flying Bullet (Anthony Thomas) finished third. The winning time was 1:00.4.
THREE HORSES CLAIMED ON SATURDAY
Only three horses were claimed on the 10-race programme at Caymanas Park on Saturday.
In the second race, Andrew McDonald claimed winner Minniffia for owner Nicolas Miller for $250,000 from Johnny Wilmot; Henry Harrison Jr claimed Also Correct for owner Fay Lee for $250,000 from Steven Todd and Enos Brown claimed Askaboutme for owner Charles Walsh for $210,000 from Anthony Nunes.
SILVA CRASS RELEASES MAIDEN TAG, A WINNER FOR PERCY TOMLINSON
Four-year-old roan filly Silva Crass returned from a 17-month break to win the maiden condition Pick-3 “Five Play Everyday” Trophy over seven-and-a-half furlongs (1,500m) to release the maiden tag on Saturday.
Ridden by apprentice Roger Hewitt, Silva Crass rallied to beat General Mubaraak (Romario Spencer) by a head in the native-bred four-year-old and upward event.
The win brought relief for trainer Percy Tomlinson, who after 12 starts, was able to saddle his first winner for in 2018.
Silva Crass got a good break and took over the lead of the race after a couple of strides but was then overtaken by General Mubaraak approaching the half-mile.
With General Mubaraak not quickening in deep stretch, Silva Crass rallied under a good ride to collar the leader at the wire. Moviestar (Anthony Thomas) was third. The final time 1:38.3.
DUNROBIN WINS AGAIN
The Owen Sharpe-trained Dunrobin, who released the maiden tag at the races last Wednesday, returned three days after and scored again in the Pick-3 “Straight” Trophy over four furlongs (800m) straight on Saturday.
Ridden by leading rider Anthony Thomas, Dunrobin ( Blue Pepsi Lodge – En Vogue) broke well and was disputing the lead along with OK Dude (Romario Smith) on his inside and Genuine Article (Robert Halledeen) under the stand side.
OK Dude and Dunrobin then quickened from rivals but the latter edged away at the end to score by half-a-length. Silver Surf (Tevin Foster) came on good for third place ahead of Genuine Article in fourth. The winning time was 47.4.
