Favourable draws for Diamond Mile favourites
The two main contenders for this year’s fourth running of the Diamond Mile, Will I n Charge and She’s A Maneater, both received good starting stalls yesterday during the conduct of the draw for post positions held at the Ribbiz Restaurant in Barbican, St Andrew.
Sponsored by the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BGLC) and Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL), the Diamond Mile carries a purse of US$115,000 (over J$14 million) and the other races on the card have purses of $1 million and over. A total of 187 horses have been nominated to compete in the 14 races scheduled for the Diamond Mile raceday on December 1.
“I am pleased with the post positions for all of my seven horses in the Diamond Mile, so I will just wait and see at this time,” said champion trainer Wayne DaCosta, who has She’s A Maneater among his large contingent.
It was the same from Robert Pearson, the conditioner of Will In Charge.
“Truly, nothing to complain about,” he said.
Other entries that should be competitive in the race are Bigdaddykool from the stables of Anthony Nunes and Chace The Great, trained by Dwight Chen.
Bigdaddykool breaks from the inside post at number two with Dick Cardenas replacing Linton Steadman in the saddle.
Chace The Great is going to come from the wide outside having drawn number 15.
