NCB upgrades Baywest branch, relocates St James Street

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Executives at National Commercial Bank (NCB) say their multimillion-dollar investment to refurbish its Baywest location in Montego Bay is yet another signal that demonstrates their commitment to the development of western Jamaica.

“Our investment in our Fairview branch, which was opened in March last year, represents a very iconic building in Montego Bay. We therefore thought it was very necessary to renovate our Baywest location to transfer the staff from our St James Street branch there, as it is a more central location,” said Brian Boothe, senior general manager for NCB’s Retail Banking Division.

Boothe was speaking in an interview following the official opening of the new-look NCB Baywest Branch, recently.

The St James Street Branch, which was NCB’s flagship in Montego Bay for decades, operated simultaneously with the Baywest Branch in recent years, but the latter was closed in November 2017.

Now that it has been renovated, the outlay and its aesthetics are far superior to its former setting, with the capacity to accommodate a larger number of clientele at any given time.

“Baywest is a location that will offer a wide range of services, as well as the convenience of customer parking. Parking was non-existent at our St James Street Branch. We want to get feedback from our clients and take away lessons from them, as we continue to renovate and invest in the various locations,” Boothe stated.

Manager for the Baywest and Fairview branches, Wayne Hunter, in the meantime is assuring customers that while operations at their St James Street branch has been shut down, their 24-hour Bank-on –the-Go service will remain unchanged for the foreseeable future at that facility.

Boothe added that after careful deliberations, Baywest was chosen to be upgraded due to its advantage in location and the high volume of customers who use its ABMs.
