The Portland Eastern race was over before it began

The People’s National Party (PNP) leader Dr Peter Phillips, at the campaign rally in Port Antonio on Sunday, March 3, 2019, accused the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) of corruption for fixing the roads in Portland Eastern. I’m not surprised.
He would, of course, accuse the JLP of negligence if they hadn’t fixed the roads. From his point of view the JLP can’t be right, and the PNP can’t be wrong.
Dr Phillips also proudly presented Damion Crawford, the PNP’s standard-bearer for the constituency, whom he highly praised for being unique. The standard-bearer himself promised to be different. Tearing down his competitor for being a fair-skinned female, and lecturing that more lawyers equate higher crime rates, indeed proved to be uniquely different.
Racism, misogyny, curious fabrications, and empty rhetoric won’t attract many votes. The competition was over before it really began.
Last Sunday the PNP lost the race.
