Int’l Women’s Day: Chang hails only female outrider in JCF
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Minister of National Security, Dr Horace Chang, has marked International Women’s Day with a salute to Corporal Beverley Nairne, who is the only female outrider in the Jamaica Constabulary Force and a member of his security detail.
“With a sense of pride and great respect, I express thanks to all Jamaican women, especially our uniformed officers, on International Women’s Day. I further laud Corporal Beverley Nairne, a member of my security detail who has distinguished herself as a stellar professional and valuable member of the team” the security minister said in a statement.
Nairne joined the JCF just over 20 years ago, fresh out of Jose Marti Technical High School. At 18 years old, with two older brothers already in the force, she was eager to make her mark, Chang expressed.
According to the statement, Nairne was called to the traffic department shortly after being posted at the Kingston Central Police Station, where she began her career as a motorcyclist in the JCF.
“Since then, she has distinguished herself as a reliable and efficient officer.
“Dr Horace Chang is honoured to have Nairne as a member of his security detail,” the statement continued.
International Women’s Day is observed on March 8 each year.
