Gayle sits out Windies’ final T20 clash against England

BASSETERRE, Saint Kitts and Nevis (AFP) — West Indies rested experienced opener Chris Gayle and brought in John Campbell for his T20I debut in the third and final match of the series against England at Warner Park in St Kitts on Sunday.

West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and chose to bat first.

Despite taking the Test series 2-1 and holding their top-ranked opponents 2-2 in the One-Day Internationals earlier in the campaign, the World T20 holders are facing a 3-0 T20 sweep at the hands of the English.

On Friday, England clinched the series by 137 runs at the same venue in which the hosts were dismantled for 45, the second lowest-ever total in a T20 international.

England have also made one change from the resounding triumph two days earlier with fast bowler Mark Wood replacing fast-medium exponent Liam Plunkett.

Teams: West Indies – Jason Holder (captain), John Campbell, Shai Hope (wicketkeeper), Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Carlos Brathwaite, Fabian Allen, Devendra Bishoo, Sheldon Cottrell, Obed McCoy.

England: Eoin Morgan (captain), Alex Hales, Jonny Bairstow (wicketkeeper), Joe Root, Sam Billings, Joe Denly, David Willey, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood.

Umpires: Leslie Reifer (WIS), Nigel Duguid (WIS)

Match Referee: Andy Pycroft (ZIM)
