The Corporate Area is rapidly filling up in anticipation of tomorrow’s the Long Walk to Freedom Tour featuring Buju Banton.

The concert, set for the National Stadium in East Kingston, is expected to attract 32,000 patrons, many of them from overseas. This has resulted in a spike in hotel occupancy levels and Airbnb accommodations.

The Jamaica Observer’s Splash understands that the majority of hotels around the venue, including the business district of New Kingston, are fully booked.

Checks with the Alhambra Inn, located metres from the National Stadium, revealed that the quaint 20-room hotel was fully booked. However, administration manager Simone Dunkley could not confirm if her occupancy levels were as a direct result of the Buju Banton show.

“We are fully booked for this weekend, but I can’t say it is as a result of the Buju Banton concert. We have been experiencing (high) occupancy levels for some time. We are generally fully booked on weekends, as well,” she told the Observer.

The Eden Gardens Wellness Resort and Spa, which is also close to the National Stadium, is also solidly booked.

“We have been experiencing high occupancy levels since the start of the year. However, this weekend has been fully booked since January. While we don’t know for certain if it is due to the Buju concert, we can only speculate. And just the fact that we were booked out so far in advance speaks to the possibility that it could be the concert. We usually experience occupancy levels of 90 per cent for the month of March,” said Kymoya Case, general manager of the 21-room resort.
