Couple to face court on ganja charges
THE police say a St Andrew couple has been arrested and charged for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
In a release from its Corporate Communications Unit yesterday, the police said the two were arrested on Tuesday and are scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on March 15.
They are 58-year-old businessman, Irving Robinson, and his wife, Glendine, a 54-year-old manager, both of a Kingston 6 address.
“They were charged jointly with the offences of possession of ganja, dealing in ganja and using a premises for the storage of ganja, the release said.
The release said reports from the Narcotics Police are that about 1:00 pm Tuesday, an operation was carried out at premises on Hope Road in Kingston 6, where approximately 72 pounds of ganja was found.
The drug has an estimated street value of $288,000, the police said.
In the meantime, the Narcotics Police are again warning individuals that if they are caught cultivating, dealing, storing, or transporting ganja without the requisite licence or permit, they will be arrested and prosecuted.
