RACING NEWS FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 6, 2019

Reyan Lewis continues good form with triple

Apprentice Reyan Lewis has hit a purple patch of late, bringing home winner after winner.

Lewis booted home three winners on Saturday’s 11-race programme to move his tally of winners to 18 for the year.

He started his triple run in the fifth race after guiding the Gresford Smith-owned and -trained Lady V to a 3 ¾-length victory down the five-furlong (1,000m) course. Lady V won in a time of 1:03.2 ahead of Royal Girl (Christopher Mamdeen) and Call To Duty (Phillip Parchment).

With the morning line favourite My Super Girl scratched, Lewis took the opportunity and drove El Profesor to victory for his second win in a Restricted Allowance event over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m). El Profesor defeated Sea Swan (Aaron Chatrie) by 2 lengths, with Anna Lisa (Anthony Thomas) third. The final time was 1:20.2.

Then in the ninth race Lewis made all on Rising Bop to win an Optional Claiming event ($550,000-$500,000) over a mile (1,600m). Rising Bop won by 1 ¼ lengths ahead of Danos La Paz (Omar Walker) and Burlin (Raddesh Roman).

Blu Attitude stayed with the field for a while before she began to draw away.
