Education Ministry warns against fake employment recruitment drive on social media
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Ministry of Education, Youth and Information is advising the public that a message circulating on the popular messaging application WhatsApp seeking to recruit individuals to be employed as data collection officers at the ministry is false.
The fake message has indicated that people should bring their TRN and NIS cards, birth certificate and banking information to the Region 4 office today, April 10, to be employed to conduct an audit of books and furniture.
However, the ministry, in a statement today, says that this recruitment drive is false and did not originate from any of its regional bodies or agencies.
According to the ministry, if it wishes to conduct any employment and or recruitment exercise, notification is usually given through noted media organisations or official channels of government communication.
The ministry is warning people who are creating these messages to desist from doing so.
