Hunt for Champions League places, titles truly on

JustBet offers Crystal Palace at $8.75 to beat Man City at home

THERE is still a lot to play for in the various leagues and cups across Europe as the 2018-19 football season is about to reach its climax.

JustBet previews three of the top games with good odds being offered for bettors.

The football fare begins in Italy tomorrow (Saturday, April 13) where the battle to play Champions League football takes centre stage as AC Milan tackle Lazio.

On Sunday, in England, the Crystal Palace ‘Eagles’ are trying to pick off Man City again, while Liverpool are seeking revenge against Chelsea after their last title push ended when Steven Gerrards’ slip helped to gift a 2-0 win to Chelsea in April 2014.

EVENT # 1

Milan take on Lazio at the San Siro. Milan are looking to consolidate their top four position while Lazio are bubbling to overtake their rivals and strengthen their claim to play in the Champions League.

Milan want to put an end to their four-game winless run in the Serie A, but despite losing to Juventus last weekend, they are still in with a great chance of securing a top four finish.

What makes this game so vital for both teams is that Atalanta, Torino, and Sampdoria all still have a realistic chance of making the top four, with the gap between AC Milan in fourth to Sampdoria in ninth just seven points

Lazio dropped two points in a 2-2 draw with Sassuolo last weekend, but a win over Milan at the Stadio San Siro would see them move closer to securing a top-four finish.

AC Milan are on their joint worst run of the season, while Lazio’s inconsistencies have prevented them from truly locking down a top-four spot. If Lazio can find their goal-scoring touch, they may break their 29-year San Siro curse and record an away victory against AC Milan for the first time since the 1989/90 season.

The betting tip! AC Milan

EVENT # 2

The Eagles (Crystal Palace) are looking for a second victory against Manchester City, as they did in December of last year.

With City widely hailed as one of the decades greatest teams seen in Europe, a hit-and-miss Palace side travelling north to Manchester, were hardly likely to cause an upset. In truly remarkable fashion, the Eagles did the unthinkable and left the Etihad with three points. This was greatly attributed in part to Andros Townsend’s thunderbolt, an effort befitting the win.

On Sunday (April 14), the “Citizens” face Palace, but this time at Selhurst Park. Palace enter this home game with more optimism, as they sit three places higher in the table and have won three of their last four games compared with two wins from five in December.

However, form pales into insignificance against the likes of City, who have won seven of their last eight league games, keeping a clean sheet in six. With a game in hand over league leaders Liverpool, a win would temporarily place them on top before the Reds host Chelsea later on Sunday.

Interestingly, City’s coach Pep Guardiola is winless in his last two league meetings with Palace, he’s only ever had a longer winless league run against Everton (3) in his entire managerial career, therefore, Palace could be in for a thrashing as City have scored the most goals in the league this season (75).

The betting tip! Manchester City win

EVENT # 3

Title hopefuls Liverpool welcome Chelsea to Anfield on Sunday (April 14) and can retain top spot at the top of the Premier League with a win over their fierce rivals.

Liverpool had to come from behind to beat Southampton 3-1 last Friday after Shane Long put the Saints into an early lead. However, goals from Naby Keita, Mo Salah, and Jordon Henderson turned the tie around for the Reds. Liverpool followed up that victory with a mid-week 2-0 win over Porto in Champions League action on Tuesday at Anfield.

Chelsea on the other hand, hosted local rivals West Ham on Monday and duly won the game 2-0. With that victory, Chelsea have won three games in a row.

Liverpool’s only defeat at home this season came against Chelsea in the League Cup in September when the Blues won 2-1. Since then, the Reds have won 17 of their 21 home games in all competitions this season. Chelsea on the hand, have lost six of their last 11 Premier League games on the road, while failing to score in four of those last six defeats.

The betting tip! Liverpool victory.
