Bail application expected for woman on child-stealing rap
ATTORNEY Rachel Donaldson is expected to make a bail application on Thursday for the woman accused of stealing a day-old baby from Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, on January 9.
Last Thursday, when the matter was called up in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court, Peta-Gay Ffrench, 27, who has been charged with child stealing, was remanded after the committal bundle that was expected to be served was delivered.
Ffrench, who is from a Harkers Hall, St Catherine address, was taken into custody on February 5 when she turned up at the Registrar General’s Department in Twickenham Park, St Catherine, attempting to register a baby.
A subsequent DNA test confirmed on February 7 that the baby belonged to a couple whose child was snatched from the hospital on January 9. Ffrench was charged on February 11.
The baby boy was reunited with his parents on February 8.
