Passenger slashes JUTC driver in face
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The driver of a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus, which plies the Portmore route, was slashed in the face by a passenger at the Half-Way-Tree Transport Centre this afternoon.
The passenger reportedly wanted to have the bus windows open but was told by the driver that it would prevent the air conditioner from working properly.
A verbal confrontation ensued and the passenger was asked to exit the bus.
The passenger then requested a refund of his fare and while the driver was in the process of returning the money he was attacked by the knife-wielding passenger.
The passenger ran off but was chased by the injured bus driver.
A police officer who reportedly witnessed the incident apprehended the fleeing passenger.
