Kevona Davis pulls out of national trials
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Edwin Allen’s sprinter Kevona Davis will not take part in the JAAA Supreme Ventures National Senior and Junior Championships, OBSERVER ONLINE was reliably informed today.
Edwin Allen’s head coach Michael Dyke told the OBSERVER ONLINE earlier today that the athlete was withdrawn Thursday night on the advise of medical doctors.
Edwin Allen will not tender a medical certificate on her behalf, which means her season is over and she will not seek to be selected for the Pan-American Under 20 in Costa Rica next month.
She did not compete at the CARIFTA Games in April this year but represented her school at the Penn Relays a few weeks later where they retained the High School Girls 4x100m title.
Davis was down to compete in the Senior women’s 100m and was drawn in the same heat as National Junior Record holder Briana Williams but did not show up at the starting blocks.
Today, Dyke said she complained of soreness in her hamstring while warming up on Thursday and after being examined by a medical doctor, they were advised not to put her in the race.
