Khoury is new general manager for SSL
Jonathan Khoury is slated to take up the reins as new general manager for Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL) after he was appointed on June 3, 2019.
As general manager, Khoury will now head up the commercial team for SSL Jamaica. Khoury aims to hone skills in innovation and research to continue leading the SSL Jamaica team to success by discovering worthwhile new business ventures with a focus on increasing revenue, optimising new and existing enterprises for augmented return on investment, according to a release from the company.
Khoury, in his first speech as general manager, asserted that “the ultimate goal is to maintain profitable business strategies with a seamless operation that remains focused on the clients’ current needs and planning for innovative future venture opportunities”.
“This is mainly an operational role which has the day to day functions focused on achieving client needs with the use of a solution-driven approach targeted to each request. Having the client-centered approach, I think differentiates my style from other general Managers within the sector. It fosters a distinctive component, which in the end reduces risk and assists with formulating big-ticket ideas for pipeline projects geared towards excellence,” Khoury asserted.
Khoury comes to the job with a wealth of experience in the financial sector, which began internationally with his employment to the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), and has more than eight years of experience within the local financial sector.
Khoury said he is proud of the strides SSL Jamaica has made in continuous innovation and technology. This he firmly believes has positioned the organisation as a full fin-tech firm; offering online trading and straight through processing and giving clients the opportunity to have the hands-on experience with their portfolios, this for him is a step in the right direction, of which he is excited to be a part of.
On a more personal note, Khoury disclosed that he is a family man focused on catering to the needs of his two boys, “My family and I have a deep connection, they prompted my move back to Jamaica to be closer to them. Jamaica provides a quality of life that would be unattainable in Canada. My fondest memories are with my family enjoying the outdoors-hiking, swimming and playing tennis, all island life has to offer that can be enjoyed year-round instead of seasonal.”
Khoury is a commerce, finance and economics graduate from Canada’s Carleton University.
CRICHTON IS FIRST FEMALE GM FOR HALF MOON
The Board of Directors of Half Moon, one of the Caribbean’s most iconic resort destinations, announced the appointment of Shernette Crichton as the resort’s new general manager effective as of July 1.
Crichton, who is the first woman to be appointed as hotel manager in 2007, continues her record at Half Moon as now the first woman to hold the position for general manager. She has been with the hotel for over 20 years in various positions.
“Shernette has been responsible for leading and implementing programmes that have been instrumental in the success of Half Moon over the years,” said Guy Steuart III, chairman of Half Moon. “This was a natural selection, as she has been an embodiment of Half Moon’s values of respect, integrity, certainty and honesty. We are confident that Shernette will continue our traditions of excellence in the competent manner that she has handled all her other roles.”
Half Moon recently announced that it selected Salamander Hotels & Resorts to manage the award-winning 400-acre property.
