Call made for dialogue as new initiative is launched to force out Haitian president
Opposition parties in Haiti have announced a new initiative to force President Jovenel Moise out of office.
The news was followed by a call from President of the Deputy of Chambers Gary Bodeau for political dialogue to resolve the matter.
Bodeau has written to various stakeholders seeking a political dialogue that could lead to a “new legal-political framework” for the island.
Bodeau in his letter said that dialogue could lead to the new framework “that can generate economic recovery, political stability and social balance”.
He said the current “crisis in the country cannot leave any citizen indifferent”.
Residents, supported by the opposition parties have been protesting for weeks in an effort to force the resignation of President Moise, who they accuse of being corrupt.
