The ‘construction’ of Peter Phillips’s shadow cabinet suggests that he is still “carrying feelings” for the Honourable Portia Simpson Miller.

Otherwise, how does one begin to explain the sidelining of Mrs Angela Brown Burke from his ‘what not cabinet’?

Of notice also is the absence of Dr Dayton Campbell, who was Peter Bunting’s campaign manager, and “Pastor” Ian Hayles, who was very vocal against Phillips during the campaign leading up to the People’s National Party (PNP) presidential election in which Phillips defeated his challenger Bunting.

I notice, too, how easily the word “unity” is being thrown around on social media by supporters of Phillips, who think “Risers” should sing a sankey and find their way home, as if they had left the PNP.

The comrade leader himself has not done anything to prove that he wants unity.

By sidelining Campbell, Brown Burke and Hayles, Dr Phillips has further fractured an already disintegrated party.

The question now is wither thou goest, Phillips’s real PNP?

Because, while those who blindly support him, thinking he can win the next general election, the truth is, the Jamaica Labour Party is in control, and will continue to be.

Phillips should remember how he was embraced by the Honourable Portia Simpson Miller after he challenged her for the presidency and lost.

Quite honestly, his resignation would be adequate at this point. Why wait until he has failed, when it is evident by his actions that he is already a failure?

If ever a third option was needed, it is now.
