PERFECT START: Molynes United head coach credits trust for Red Stripe Premier League success
Molynes United FC coach Lijyasu Simms has credited the system of trust within the organisation for the early success the club have been experiencing in the Red Stripe Premier League.
Molynes have won their first six matches of the season, defeating some of the island’s top clubs. This has enabled them to sit comfortably atop the points table with 18 points.
They are five more ahead of Waterhouse, who are on 13 points, having played one less game. Harbour View is third on 10 points. The others in the top six are Humble Lion on nine, Arnett Gardens on eight and Cavalier on seven.
Simms said, “This is our sixth game, our sixth win. This team is moving from strength to strength. We believe in these youngsters and these youngsters believe in us and we just continue to work and come together as a team, as unity is strength and as we go along we just unite more and more. We have to just big up to the management team who stood behind us all the way from the get-go and the coaching staff who is there keep fighting and making things happen. It is just a team effort going forward.”
On Sunday, Molynes defeated Mount Pleasant Football Academy 1-0 at Waterhouse Stadium and Simms was satisfied with the effort of the players, as he believes that they gave their all on the field.
He said, “I wouldn’t change anything (about the match). I am so proud of these youngsters, I am so proud of these guys, they have come out here and laid everything on the field. I asked them before the game, all I need from them is to go out there and lay everything on the field and we get that today, what more could we ask for? These players are making us proud week in week out and we have to just continue to make them happy and continue to work with them…”
