‘Fenty’ of excitement as Ora by Fontana opens in Montego Bay

ST JAMES, Jamaica — It was excitement galore as pharmacy chain Fontana opened its Ora by Fontana location in Montego Bay on Saturday.

Shoppers were reportedly in line hours before the official opening, which was scheduled for 10:00 am, to get a look and feel of the luxury beauty products, particularly the Fenty line that is owned by Barbadian pop star, Rihanna.

“I was so excited I got up from 8:00 am this morning and got ready and I am here and I am so excited,” Natasha Johnson told Observer Online as she examined the various items on offer.

Patrons crowded the space to the point that security personnel had to be letting patrons out before others could enter.

Johnson was one of the first ones to enter and shared that she was intrigued about the Fenty product line which is being exclusive retailed by Fontana through its Ora by Fontana set up.

“I’ve been a user of Fenty products for the longest while since she launched and I was so excited that she was coming to the Caribbean,” he said.

“I am getting the gloss bomb because the shade that I wanted I tried to get it online from awhile back and I couldn’t because it was sold out and I got it today and I’m so excited about it,” she said about her plans.

Another customer, Renae Findley couldn’t hide her excitement about the move especially as it relates to the Fenty brand.

“I’m interested in Fenty overall, I love the gloss bomb, I love the blush, I love her mascara already and I want to try the foundation, so everything,” she declared.

“It’s an exceptional feeling you know, Fenty is a phenomenal brand by a phenomenal woman so I am happy to be here,” she added.

According to director and chief operating officer (COO) of Fontana, Ray Therrien, the company had been looking at this move for some time based on feedback.

“We’re so excited to be finally bringing the Ora by Fontana concept to Montego Bay,” he said.

Ray Therrien Director and COO and CEO Anne Chang of Fontana during the launch.

“The Ora by Fontana was really in the process of launching these higher ends beauty brands for Jamaica, there has been a lot of requests for this from a customer perspective,” he disclosed.

He said the company is pleased with how things have been going since launching the Ora by Fontana concept.

“It’s been an incredible reaction from our customers and we are here to serve them and we continue to increase the beauty options for all our customers here in Jamaica,” he said.

Cheif executive officer, Anne Chang told the Observer that this move brings a next level of shopping to Fontana.

“This is one of the reasons we came up the concept of Ora to elevate the shopping experience and luxury and to attract brands like Fenty, our higher end perfumes, that was always the intention,” she said.

She said that Montego Bay opening was better than they anticipated.

“Honestly I would say that this is beyond our expectations, it shows that Montego Bay was ready for this for a long time and we couldn’t be happier with the turn out today and they are shopping not just coming to see it,” she said.

“It’s an amazing feeling, we feel very accomplished and thankful for our customers,” she continued.
