Unilever and Kraft Heinz bashed for adverts on porn site
Conglomerates Unilever and Kraft Heinz are facing some public pressure after subsidiary companies placed advertisements on mega porn site, Pornhub.
For Unilever, it was Dollar Shave Club and for Kraft Heinz, it was their frozen food brand Devour.
Dollar Shave Club ran an ad stating if you use our bathroom products you won’t have to visit this site as much.
For its part, Devour ran an ad stating “HOT food porn. Never just eat, DEVOUR.”
The pressure facing these companies is that there are videos on the adult site that promote underage illicit sex and other illegal acts. Therefore, it should not be a case where these mega-companies, associated with family brands, are advertising on the site.
Unilever has since said it was not aware of the ad and explained that Dollar Shave Club operated almost independently even though it was a subsidiary company. Kraft Heinz, on the other hand, indicated that they knew because Devour ran the ad as part of its Superbowl promotion as a play on the term ‘food porn’.
However, whatever their intentions were, it has not been found in good taste and lawmakers in England are calling for police investigations to be carried out.
