Carmelo Anthony named player of the week for NBA Western Conference
Veteran basketball star Carmelo Anthony has
raised his stock recently after joining the Portland Trail Blazers in November.
Mello was named the Western Conference Player
of the Week in the 6th week of the NBA season. Mello averaged 22.3 points, 7.7
rebounds and 2.7 assists last week.
He has won the weekly award 19 times in his
NBA career but has not been received the award since 2014, when he was signed
to the New York Knicks.
Anthony has looked every bit the superstar
since signing with the Trail Blazers despite being without a team for almost a
year. Last week, the 35-year-old surpassed Alex English for 18th on the NBA’s
all-time scoring list and Oscar Robertson to move into 10th place for the most
career 20 points. He is currently on a one-year, non-guaranteed deal with the
Portland Trail Blazers.
