WITH a career spanning 56 years, Freddie McGregor is scheduled to headline ignite Live in the Estate tonight in Siloah, St Elizabeth.

The event is hosted by Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum.

“ ‘Live at the Estate’ is an event to mark the end of a great year for the Joy Spence Appleton Estate Rum Experience (JSAERE), and since Appleton Estate created the Signature Nights series, we wanted to blend the history of our world renowned rums with music from a stalwart in our world-recognised music, reggae,” said Telecia Lindo-Johnson, Appleton Estate marketing manager.

McGregor, who has collaborated with Appleton Estate in the past, is thrilled to be part of the launch of Live at the Estate, and expects a great experience.

“I have worked with Appleton Estate for Signature Nights and people still talk to me about that show, — the vibe, and energy. That really spurred my interest in being a part of Live at the Estate. Appleton Estate events are always a good vibe, and I think this one will be another great experience.”

He has promised to give the audience a performance to remember.

“I’m going to give the people a good time. The fans love me and have supported me for years; they know what to expect when the Big Ship Band touches the stage.”

McGregor’s popularity skyrocketed in the early 1980s. Since then, he has delivered a surplus of hits such as Bobby Babylon, Big Ship, Push Comes to Shove, I Was Born a Winner, Just Don’t Want To Be Lonely, and That Girl (Groovy Situation).

A violin performance by musician Ziah is also on the cards.

Live at the Estate is a new experience for rum and cocktail enthusiasts who want to learn more about Jamaican heritage while experiencing the wonders of the best rums in the world.
