In Support of the Tryall Club

The affable James and Manuela Goren welcomed guests, Friday last, to their well-appointed Stella by the Sea villa at the luxurious Tryall Club in Hanover, for an evening of cocktails and dinner with British High Commissioner to Jamaica Asif Ahmad and deputy chairman of Barita Investments Paul Simpson.

The event provided an opportunity for Tryall Club private donors to make charitable donations to the Tryall Fund, through which assistance is given to improve health and education in the parish.

The outdoors, indoors design allowed easy mingling plus the added benefit of being caressed by the light evening breeze, with just the right amount of northern chill. Breaking waves mere metres away and soft music provided the perfect ambiance for an evening of lively discourse, delectable fare and spirits with discernable citrusy fusions.

Cocktails segued effortlessly into dinner whose menu offerings included foie gras with caramelised apple, grilled mahi mahi and the evening’s pièce de résistance: suckling roast pig a La Caja China. Notes were exchanged about the technique that involves the roasting of a pig in a roasting box, where the heat source (charcoal or wood) is placed above instead of below resulting in meats that are tender and juicy inside and perfectly crispy outside.

The culinary delights and fund-raising will continue at Taste of Tryall set for January 18, 2020 with Barita Investments as the event’s title sponsor.
