Nike unveils swimsuit line with a hijab
Sportswear giant Nike has unveiled its first swimsuit collection with a hijab — The Nike Victory Swim Collection.
The company said it developed the swimsuit line after some Muslim athletes complained about wearing a traditional headscarf during competition.
It’s a follow up to the Nike Pro Hijab in 2016. The hijab was worn by US champion fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad when she brought home the Bronze medal from Rio.
The collection will feature leggings, tunics and a hijab. It is made from warp-knit fabric, and is lightweight, designed to give freedom of movement in the water, and is quick drying.
Although it was unveiled Tuesday (Dec 10), it will not be released until February first in stores in the United Kingdom, the US, and the Middle East
