Queen Omega in seventh heaven

Trinidadian singer Queen Omega, who is currently in Jamaica recording songs for her seventh album, is scheduled to perform at the Dub Club in St Andrew tomorrow.

It will be her first performance in Jamaica in some time, having appeared at Reggae Sumfest and Rebel Salute.

According to the 38- year-old roots artiste, “The raw energy you feel when you touch stage show a ‘yard’ is indescribable.”

The current sessions are being done with Jamaican multi-instrumentalist Locksley Dixon, who has toured with Jimmy Cliff, Queen Ifrica and Tony Rebel.

Thomas Broussard, a French guitarist/producer, is also a major part of the project. He produced Joy, Queen Omega’s latest song.

From Trinidad and Tobago’s San Fernando region, Queen Omega has been in the music business for 20 years. Her self-titled first album was released in 2001, while her previous set of songs, Together we Aspire, Together we Achieve, came out in 2012.

Queen Omega is scheduled to perform at Sound Di Alarm, roots singer Iba Mahr’s annual New Year’s Eve charity show in Linstead, St Catherine.
