We lost a true legend and probably Jamaica’s best songwriter. Salute Mr. Bob Andy!

Condolences to the loved ones of Bob Andy. He was a trailblazer indeed. “The rise in the price is to make more money for who’s got plenty, and the tricks of the trade is to keep the hungry bellies empty.” Taken from the master song Check It Out. He was a true man of the soil and will be truly missed. Walk good, my brother. Gone, he is, but will never be forgotten.

Lorna V. Gray

You are going home Bob. RIP!!!!

Lindel Mc Cormack

We have loss another music legend. It was two days ago I went on youtube playing some of the legend from yester year. And Bob was one of them not knowing he was going to die the same week. Swwet ride home Bob now that you have answered the call for higher service.

Sorry to hear of Bob Andy’s death,Its amazing the little knowledge these reporters have on their subject, Most of Bob Andy’s hit songs where recorded at Coxone’s ”Studio one” they are as follows ”Got to go back home”, ”Unchained”, ”let them say”, ”Too Experienced” later covered by American Eddie Lovett and Barrington Levy, ”Feeling Soul”,, anyone knows about ”Studio One” could not mistake this song as ”Treasure Isles” with the distinctive sound of Mittoo Stylish keyboard playing input, maybe he spent a few Month at Treasure Isles, after the break up of the Paragons, amazingly his biggest hit as it relates to foreign cross-over was a cover of ”Young GIfted and Black” recorded at Harry Jay’s Studio, with Marcia Griffiths, RIP. Bob, you’ve stamped your class in the annals of Jamaican music.

After I had to cancel my trip to Jamaica, I called my cousin and sang to her Bob’s I got to go back home, today 3-27-20 I would be in Jamaica. Really sad. Rest in peace Bob Andy. I hope to go back soon.

As a pre-teen kid, sitting on the wall at the corner of Hyslop Avenue and Windward Road was the thing to do for my friends and I.

And we use to admire a lovely young entertainment couple who lived on Hyslop Avenue.

That young couple were Marcia Griffiths and Bob Andy. They were always very nicely dressed, and Marcia caught our eyes every time as she was very beautiful, graceful, and respectful.

Marcia and Bob always acknowledged us kids with a glance and a smile.

RIP Bob Andy.

Peter Peters

Was in greuf for a minute when I heard, as couple weeks I was riding back home from st Ann’s and his songs were playing on the radio, he accompanied me back home safely as I was lost in the soul of his voice, but when I remembered that lonely Sunday driving back in I started smiling, my heart burned with a warmth I have never felt before. Grief gone only to be replay by the happiness in the music he left me. Thanks Brother Bob, you live on in my heart forever as I was once Young Gifted and Still Black

Riptack Heigberns

I remember singing Bob Andy tunes under a Guango Tree at Friday pay bill on the sugar estate at Jamaica Sugar Estates Ltd. in Duckenfield. I got many half-pennies, pennies and three-pennies. It was a bounty. I play Bob Andy songs today and all the time; when I am up, when I am down. Bob Andy truly contributed to the Jamaican identify.

JustandBalance

This legend and prolific songwriter never got his just due in our local public sphere… he was respected but I’m of the belief more should have done to revere this man.
