‘Cockroach no business inna fowl fight’, but…
Dear Editor,
There is an ensuing battle between the House of Windsor and the House of Sussex. This battle is raging in the United States of America and the United Kingdom. The Atlantic Ocean is the object that the spectators on both sides will use to play ‘hot patty’.
The House of Windsor is headed by the committed and dedicated Elizabeth II. In contrast, a weak prince leads the other. Both houses’ supporting roles are played by a sick 99-year-old man who is in the hospital fighting for life. For the last place, we have a ‘woke’ actress fighting for relevance.
This family feud has garnered the attention of many around the world. It seems the majority are supporters of the House of Sussex. They have taken up ‘arms’ (social media posts) and are ready to take it to the racist and bigoted institution that they say is the monarchy. Social justice warriors exist within the echo chamber that is Twitter and other social media platforms. The interview that ace television host Oprah Winfrey conducted was the perfect launch pad to usher in the end of this anachronistic institution.
We must note, however, that this is a family feud. This feud does not concern us, especially those of us who are not British citizens, or citizens of the United Kingdom, for that matter. Please note that the Sussexes are a part of the status quo; let us not get too woke and sentimental. Our views do not matter. We are mere spectators who seem hell-bent on sending up our blood pressure over rich people’s problems in these difficult times.
Talking about rich, I could do with ten million British pounds right now. What we see unfolding is a battle within a privileged family. Both sides have their elite supporters rooting for them. The ‘haves-not’, the proletariat, and the lumpen proletariat should mind our businesses and attend to pressing matters at hand. If one of those pressing matters is removing The Queen as head of State, we should do so.
This feud is not my fight, but I will bet that the the monarchy will survive this. However, I am not sure that the present Sussexes will be an item in the next 10 years. I could be wrong, though.
