525 new COVID cases, 4 deaths
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jamaica continues to climb as the country recorded 525 new cases yesterday, bringing the total to 29,912.
The death toll also increased to 484 after four additional virus-related deaths were recorded.
According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, all of the deaths were men — a 54-year-old from St Catherine; and two 95-year-olds and a 56-year old from Kingston and St Andrew.
Of the newly reported cases 293 cases were females and 220 were males with ages ranging from 20 days to 90 years old.
The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (129), St Catherine (74), St Ann (65), Hanover (45), Trelawny (38), Westmoreland (37), St Ann (35), St Thomas (31), St Mary (24), St James and Clarendon (19 each), St Elizabeth (five) and Manchester (four).
The country also recorded 147 recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 15,059.
