Usain Bolt Foundation donates laptops valued at US$40K to schools
The Usain Bolt
Foundation has donated 150 laptops, valued at US$40,000, to schools in rural
Jamaica.
The initiative was
announced today (March 17) and is aimed at honouring the former athlete’s commitment
to assisting the young.
“The best thing about my life is being able to give back, especially to the children. The current global pandemic has forced many children to do only online classes and highlights the need for technology in schools,” the eight-time Olympic champion shared in a statement.
He continued, “We will keep working to provide much needed
equipment and support the education of the next generation.”
The donation follows the foundation’s previous donation of printers and school supplies to 21 early childhood institutions, as well as donating computers and tablets to seven schools in his home parish of Trelawny.
