Jamaica records 3 additional COVID deaths, 48 new cases
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Three additional COVID-19 deaths brought Jamaica’s death toll to 974 yesterday, as the country recorded 48 new cases of the virus.
The country has now recorded 49,031 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 21,034 are active.
According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the three deaths are a 77-year-old man from Portland and two women, ages 79 and 66, from Trelawny and Clarendon, respectively.
Of the 48 newly reported cases, there were 21 females and 27 males with ages ranging from one to 96 years.
Twenty-six of the cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine and Westmoreland each recorded five cases, while St James recorded three. Hanover and St Mary recorded two cases each and Clarendon, Manchester, Portland, Trelawny and St Elizabeth recorded one case each.
The country also recorded 217 recoveries, bringing that total since the outbreak to 26,641.
