KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica recorded 45 new cases of COVID-19 and one new virus related death yesterday, pushing the country’s infection tally to 49,277 and the total deaths to 997.

According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the latest death is a 68-year-old female from St Catherine. Another death was also reported under investigation.

Meanwhile, the new virus cases consist of 26 females and 19 males with ages ranging from nine months to 103 years.

The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (11), St Catherine (11), St James (five), Westmoreland (four), St Ann (three), Trelawny (three), Clarendon (two), Manchester (two), Hanover (one), Portland (one), St Elizabeth (one), and St Mary (one).

The ministry said 177 patients recovered from the virus, pushing the total virus recoveries to 27,542. There are 20,365 active cases of the virus.
