Dunbeholden, Waterhouse meet in top clash

THE top-of-the-table clash between Dunbeholden FC and Waterhouse FC will grab most of the attention as the Jamaica Premier League rolls into the Easter weekend at full tilt — all 12 teams will be engaged from Sunday to Monday.

Dunbeholden, on 31 points, will put their spot at the top of the league table on the line against second-placed Waterhouse (29 points). Match time is scheduled for 5:15 pm on Sunday at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

Both teams have performed well so far this season, each of them losing only twice in 13 matches.

Dunbeholden have racked up 10 wins — including last week’s 1-0 success over struggling Montego Bay United — and a draw. Waterhouse have almost matched them stride for stride, garnering nine wins — inclusive of last week’s enthralling 3-2 victory over champions Cavalier FC — and two draws.

In the first game of the double header at the venue, which begins at 3:00 pm, seventh-placed Portmore United (15 points) match wits with fifth-placed Cavalier (22). Both suffered losses last time out, with Portmore slipping to a 1-2 defeat to Arnett Gardens FC and Cavalier faltering against Waterhouse.

At The University of the West Indies-Jamaica Football Federation Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence, sixth-placed Harbour View FC (19 points) are to take on eighth-placed Tivoli Gardens FC (14 points) in a 3:00 pm kick-off. In their most recent outing Harbour View impressed with a 3-0 win over Mount Pleasant FA, while Tivoli ended 1-1 with Humble Lions FC.

Also at 3:00 this afternoon, Mount Pleasant, who are fourth on 22 points, host ninth-placed Vere United (11 points) at Drax Hall Sports Complex. While Mount Pleasant were handily beaten last week by Harbour View, Vere finished 1-1 with Molynes United.

Monday is slated to offer another two matches, both at Anthony Spaulding Complex.

In the 5:00 pm curtain-raiser, 10th-placed Molynes (11 points) tackle last-placed Montego Bay (five points) before Monday night’s flagship contest between 11th-placed Humble Lions (10 points) and third-placed Arnett Gardens (27), which is to start at 7:30 pm.

Though Humble Lions are the designated hosts, as per the competition schedule, the venue is the home of Arnett Gardens FC, who will start favourites to take all three points.
