Carifta Games 2022: Two more medals for Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Hosts and defending champions Jamaica earned a gold and a silver medal for the three finals that were decided on Sunday morning’s third session at the 49th Carifta Games at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Jaydon Hibbert won the Under-20 boys’ long jump with 7.62 metres while Britania Johnson was second in the Under-20 girls’ shot put.
Jamaica are now on 31 medals after starting the day with 29.
Hibbert won the long jump beating St Vincent’s Uroy Ryan with 7.52m and Barbados’ Aren Spencer with 7.48m.
Treneese Eloui Hamilton won Dominica’s first gold of the championships, winning the Girls’ Under-20 shot put with 14.58m, Jamaica’s Johnson won her second silver throw-ing 14.19m while Suriname’s Alicia Grootfaam was third with 12.97m.
Guyana’s Anisha Gibbons won the Girls’ under-20 javelin with 42.54m, Barbados’ Vivica Addison won the silver with 41.92m and her teammate Vanessa Greaves was third with 41.17m.
