Ackeem Blake runs PB to win Velocity Fest 100m
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Former Merlene Ottey High School standout, Ackeem Blake, ran a personal best 10.08 seconds (1.3m/s) to win the men’s 100 metres at Saturday’s Velocity Fest II at the National Stadium, beating his training partner Yohan Blake in the process.
Ackeem who was the second fastest qualifier from the first round earlier in the day, lowered his previous personal best 10.13 seconds set in March to be the second fastest Jamaican man, so far, behind Oblique Seville’s 10.06 seconds.
The youngster got off to a fast start and held off the more experienced Yohan Blake, who ran a season’s best 10.11 seconds, while Kadrian Goldson took third place with 10.20 seconds.
Meanwhile, Remona Burchell won the women’s 100m in a season’s best 11.13 seconds (1.1m/s), her fastest time since 2017.
Jodean Williams was second with a season’s best 11.51 seconds and Krystal Sloley third with a season’s best 11.74 seconds.
