ROMEICH Major, principal of Romeich Entertainment, is pleased with the outcome of the first staging of ‘Spitfire Month End Fridays’, held at his event management company’s Campbell’s Boulevard headquarters. It was a collaboration with Dragon Stout Jamaica.

“It was actually planned in one week, and I’m very proud of the reaction by the people with just the promotion that we did in a week,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Last Friday night’s event saw entertainment from DJs Banka, Chattis, and Bishop Escobar. There were bucket deals all night to entice the scores of patrons who turned out. Free entry was permitted if patrons purchased a bucket of Dragon, and they also had the option of purchasing a case of the beverage, which granted them access to the VIP section.

It was non-stop high energy from the selectors who managed to keep the patrons engaged with hits across every genre. Most women in attendance showed off their acrobatic moves when each dancehall segment started, and this continued throughout the night.

Major added that the collaboration with Dragon was a no-brainer, as he always tries to connect with every demographic.

“You know Romeich Entertainment is all about the streets, so you know we rep other brands that you would consider as street brands. So you know, Dragon Spitfire a one a di best stout out there…the best entertainment team plan up with the best stout to put on the best event,” he said, noting that it will become a monthly series.

The businessman credited his team for his continued success in event hosting.

“The reason my events are always successful is because I have a huge team. My team helps me promote. We’ve done so much work in the past that we’ve cemented ourselves as one of the best entertainment groups so, automatically, people are going to come to our events,” he said.

With the entertainment industry being reopened just a little over a month ago, and a plethora of events being held, Major had a word of advice for other promoters.

“Just be different. Bring your own feel and your own image to an event, and just try promote it and push it out there in various spaces and areas. Don’t limit yourself to just one set of people, or one crowd. Don’t give up. Memba seh yuh might do an event one, two, three times and it nuh shot, and the fourth one shot. Yuh just haffi keep moving, keep doing, keep pushing — and learn from your mistakes and fix them,” he cautioned.

Meanwhile, patrons at Friday’s event had a great time by all indications.

Hairdresser Sheree Robinson said it was a great getaway from the week’s activities.

“It was a long work week and so I thought I’d come have some fun. I know that brand Romeich always puts on great events,” she told the Observer.

Teacher Rohan McCalla was singing a similar tune.

“It’s a nice little Friday night vibe — not too fussy — and the music is great,” he said.
