Jamaica reports 207 new COVID cases, one more death
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica reported 207 new cases of COVID-19 and one fatality on Sunday, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
This pushed the total number of cases of the virus since the start of the pandemic to 140,670 and the death toll to 3,084.
Of the newly reported cases, there were 132 females and 76 males with ages ranging from four months to 92 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston & St Andrew (56), St Catherine (54), St Ann (17), St Thomas (17), St James (15), Portland (10), Manchester (eight), Westmoreland (seven), Trelawny (six), Clarendon (five), Hanover (four), St Elizabeth (four), and St Mary (four).
Meanwhile, the latest death is an 82-year-old woman from St Catherine.
The country also recorded 131 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 88,864.
The positivity rate for the latest round of testing was 21.9 per cent.
There are 134 people hospitalised, three of them critically ill.
There are 2,783 confirmed active cases on the island.
