I live in the United States. Using the JPS app, on July 15, 2021, I submitted a request for a prepaid meter to be installed at my house in Jamaica.

I again submitted the same request to the JPS on May 6, 9, 10, 2022 with clear concise instructions. I specifically asked that upon approval and installation of the prepaid meter, the JPS contact X who lives in my house and inform him how to obtain electricity using the prepaid meter. However, JPS has done the opposite.

On several occasions “JPS” has asked “X” if the meter should be installed and each time “X” has instructed them not to install the prepaid meter.

I also did a web chat with JPS on May 11, 2022 and they indicated that the team would install the prepaid meter on Monday, May 16, 2022. Instead of proceeding to do the installation, the JPS once again asked “X” if it should be done.

The problem is that X has been paying the electricity bills late and in part payments since 2016 and this has significantly affected my credit rating. A prepaid meter will temporarily address the problem until further action is taken. I need this matter to be resolved quickly and would appreciate your assistance.

Can you please inform me how to obtain a National Health Fund (NHF) card?

The application form that must be completed to get the NHF card, can be obtained from the National Health Fund office at 25 Dominica Drive, New Kingston, or a health clinic or pharmacy or doctor’s office. The form, which has to be signed by a doctor, must have your TRN number. The NHF subsidises medication for 17 chronic illnesses.
