In a commanding performance, the out-of-class American-bred Eroy easily brushed aside rivals to win the $1.05-m Hubert Bartley Memorial Trophy, the feature attraction on the 10-race programme at Caymanas Park on Sunday.

Trained by Hall of Famer Richard Azan, and ridden by Panamanian Dick Cardenas, Eroy led from start to finish in dominating 12¼-length win in the three-year-old and upward Overnight Allowance contest over seven-and-a-half furlongs (1,500m).

Eroy wasted no time and shot to the front at the start of the race as he held the lead ahead of Big Big Daddy (Andre Martin), Awesome Treasure (Dane Dawkins), and Denbigh Life (Jordan Barrett) down the backstretch.

Navigating the half-mile turn, Eroy began to open up on rivals in a move which crippled chasing rivals as Awesome Treasure, Miniature Man (Anthony Thomas) and Helicopter (Chalrick Budhai) were left struggling a distance away.

Bred by Khozan out of the Mass Media mare Golden Bucket, the five-year-old bay horse Eroy completed the distance in a smooth 1:31.0 backed with splits of 23.4 x 46.2 x 1:10.2. Finishing second was Miniature Man and third went to Awesome Treasure.

It was the second winner on the day for Cardenas as he earlier booted home Sniper Man for breeder/owner/trainer Lorenzo Robinson in the sixth race.

Also with two winners was trainer Gary Griffiths, who saddled Eddietwentynine (Reyan Lewis) in the fourth race and Letters in Gold (Hakeem Pottinger) in the eighth race.

Racing continues on Saturday when 1000 Guineas winner, the unbeaten Atomica, will meet 2000 Guineas winner Blue Vinyl in the Jamaica St Leger, the second jewel in the Triple Crown series of races. The race will run over 10 furlongs (2,000m).
