WHILE attending a recent parent-teachers’ association (PTA) meeting at Bermaddy Primary School in Linstead, St Catherine, entertainer Khausion Di Ikon learnt that the institution was in dire need of a stove with an oven.

The first thing that came to his mind was how he could assist in acquiring the stove, which would assist in providing a variety of meals for students, including his seven-year-old son, who is a grade 2 student at the institution.

“The school was in need of a stove with an oven which could assist with preparing pastries, oven-jerked and barbeque chicken. The current stove that the school has can only prepare fried chicken for the kids. I went to a meeting at the school on June 1, and the need for this specific stove was mentioned,” said Khausion Di Ikon.

He continued, “Immediately, I brought this to the attention of some friends of mine who are originally from the community who reside overseas and we decided to come together and pool our funds to buy the stove.”

The six-burner Whirlpool gas stove, which cost close to $150,000, was handed over to the institution on Friday, June 23.

“My friends and I were in a group called the Tropical Mystic Brothers and we worked on the matter quickly to assist the school. It’s not because my son is attending the school why I decided to help. I did it from a place of care, and I am always looking out for my community,” Khausion Di Ikon added.

Khausion Di Ikon is from the tough inner-city community of Payne Land in St Andrew, but relocated to St Catherine. Born Nicholas Cowan, his musical objective is to bring back the love within the local music space with his brand of positive messages.

He has worked with producers, including One Tree Records, Ghetto Life Records, Turbulence International Production, Full Chaarge Records, Young Boss Production, and Jahhstone Productionz.

His latest single is Trust, produced by Jahstone Productionz.

“I grew up around music. Veteran recording artiste Little John is the uncle of one of my cousins and as a youngster I grew up watching him perform on the sound system Romantic Sound. I always wanted to become an artiste just like him,” Khausion Di Ikon recalled.
