Born in Canada to parents from St Ann and Clarendon, singer Ramone has always had an appreciation for the music of his parents’ birth.

“Growing up I listened to a lot of the music out of Jamaica. I was also exposed to music in the church. My father used to do song services and I would try to imitate him,” said Ramone.

Since he began to do music professionally, Ramone released an EP titled Black Sheep which charted at number two on the Canadian iTunes Reggae chart at number two. He also collaborated with dancehall legend Beenie Man on On My Way.

Ramone has released a new single in time for the summer. Likkle Time, which bemoans the fact that he wants to spend time with his significant other, is self-produced.

“To be honest, I found a riddim online. I sent it to DJ Kenny as soon as I finished recording it and he buss the song for me the same day. That’s how I know that this song has something special about it,” said Ramone.

He continued, “I’ve been getting some support for the song here in Canada. But I am hoping that it makes an impact in Jamaica the way I would want it to.”

Ramone says producing music that will impact persons from all walks of life is high on his agenda.

“So far, music has been a crazy ride for me. I am not signed to a record label, so I haven’t had a structure to follow. Everything that has happened to me at this point has been off of faith and determination,” he shared.
