Have sensitive skin? It’s time to Laugh Love Glow!
It’s tough to decide which is more impressive: British-born, Vincentian-raised Dermatologist Dr Arusha Campbell-Chambers or her skincare line, Laugh Love Glow. With 20 years’ experience in dermatology, and extensive training in aesthetic dermatology her background and credentials rival top international derms. Meanwhile, her highly-focused line (one formula so far, with toner, moisturiser and other products to be added soon) is just as dynamic and is driven by her lifelong struggle with the skin condition eczema.
“I was diagnosed with eczema from childhood and grew up having to use gentle skincare products and medicated treatments to help control it. I had to be very careful about choosing skincare products because many products made my itching worse,” Campbell-Chambers told Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD).
Dr Campbell-Chambers, therefore, understands some of the struggles her patients with eczema face. “As a dermatologist, I often encourage patients to use gentle skin cleansers, but would often hear complaints about [them] being dissatisfied with some of the gentle cleansers on the market, and a lack of locally made gentle cleansers to choose from,” she explained.
She decided to establish a skincare line that can be used by people with different skin types. Her first launch is the Laugh Love Glow Gentle Facial Cleanser. The product was launched at the Jamaica International Beauty Expo held at the Montego Bay Conference Centre, August 12-14. The cleanser was formulated, developed, and tested with the help of the Scientific Research Council. It is locally manufactured and packaged. The label — designed by her brother Bantu Campbell — was tested and approved by the Bureau of Standards Jamaica. It took four years from conception to production but Campbell-Chambers asserts her product is a game-changer in gentle skincare.

Product breakdown
The Gentle Facial Cleanser is suitable for use on sensitive skin, but safe for use on all skin types. It is free of oils, sulphates, fragrance, and parabens. It is colourless, viscous and has a light fresh scent. The formulation was designed to:
• Effectively remove excessive oil, make-up/product residue, and dirt
• Be easily rinsed away without leaving undesirable residue on the skin
• Be non-irritating to the face
Although it can safely be used on all skin types, it is most beneficial for sensitive skin, dry, normal, and combination skin types. Individuals with oily skin types who are using exfoliating skincare products and medicated treatments may also benefit from using this gentle skin cleanser to guard against irritation.
Doctor-approved ways to use:
Cleansing is the first step in skincare. The Laugh Love Glow gentle facial cleanser should be used at least twice daily. It can also be used on non-facial skin as well. It does not have to be followed by a toner since it is pH balanced, but if desired, a toner can be used after. Then moisturisation and sunscreen are other important steps in a simple skincare routine.
Editor’s Note:
This product gets two thumbs up. Not only is it effective (your face feels clean without the usual tautness associated with clean skin) but it also leaves it feeling moisturised.
