Five-time world 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has ended her 2022 athletics season on a winning note after storming to victory and claiming her fifth Diamond League title in Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday.

Fraser-Pryce, who had a record-breaking athletics season this year, got off to her usual rocket start and left a star-studded field in the wake of her dust as she blazed to take victory in the event in a time of 10.65 seconds.

Fraser-Pryce’s finishing time has equalled the Meet Record.

This is the Jamaicans seventh sub-10.7 seconds clocking this season, including the world-leading time of 10.62 seconds which was set at the Monaco Diamond League in August.

Meanwhile, Shericka Jackson, who is the only woman to defeat Fraser-Pryce in the 100m this year, followed suit in a time of 10.81 seconds, while African record holder Marie-Josee Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast rounded out the top three in 10.91 seconds.

The Americans Aleia Hobbs (11.03) and Twanisha Terry (11.10), placed fifth and sixth respectively.

The other American in the race, Sha’Carri Richardson, ended the race in last place in a a time of 11.13s.

Jamaica’s Natasha Morrison was disqualified due to a false start.

Additionally, Jackson, who is the fastest living woman over the 200m, is scheduled to contest the final of that event at 2:42 pm.

The 2022 NACAC 100m champion, Jackson, is slated to grace the track against the likes of the American trio of Jenna Parndini, Gabrielle Thomas, Tamara Clark, and Switzerland’s Mujinga Kambundji, among others.
