Hyacinth Watson (second left) joins her grandchildren Andre Smith (centre) and Lariesa Gordon as they showcase brand-new school bags filled with school supplies and goodies which they received during a recent back-to-school event in Whitehouse. Watson, her daughter and four grandchildren fell upon hard times recently when they lost everything in a fire that gutted their home in Gordon district. School bags and supplies were also provided for Watson's other grandchildren. Making the presentation are Sandals Foundation volunteers from Sandals South Coast Michelle Jackson (left) and Susan Johnson (right). The back-to-school event in Whitehouse was one of several events supported by the Sandals Foundation.

Sandals South Coast extends back-to-school assistance
Raneilia Burt, a student of Crawford Primary school, receives a backpack with school supplies from Rochelle Forbes-Reid of Sandals South Coast. The items were donated through the Sandals Foundation and Pack for a Purpose. Sharing in the moment is Raneilia’s guardian, Marlon Ritchie. Approximately 500 students in Westmoreland and St Elizabeth have benefited from back-to-school donations distributed through Sandals South Coast on behalf of the Sandals Foundation. The donations were made at events held in Whitehouse, Beeston Spring and Llandilo in Westmoreland and Crawford, Middle Quarters and Santa Cruz in St Elizabeth, with the help of various partners. Among the items distributed were packed school bags, notebooks, activity and reading books, flashcards, folders, packs of folder leaves and construction paper, toys, calculators, packs of pencils, crayons, markers, pens and a number of other art and school supplies.
