KINGSTON, Jamaica – In wet and slippery conditions due to heavy afternoon showers that delayed the start of the game by half an hour, Mona High completed a 9-2 massacre of Camperdown High on Tuesday to remain perfect in Group E of the ISSA/Digicel Manning.

A quick fire hattrick from Zhaine Pinnock in the 51st, 53rd and 59th minutes, along with goals from Denzel McKenzie who opened the scoring in the 4th minute, Donhue Mitchell (16th), Dante Peralto (19th), Romarion Thomas (54th), Ackeem Bernard (57th) and Damoi Whitfield (72nd) were responsible for the Mona goals while, Demario Knight (20th) and Marlon James (61st) got the consolation goals for Camperdown.

Having lost a number of players due to red card suspensions, Camperdown went to Mona with a depleted squad, and they were made to pay by their hosts who were merciless in the rout.

Camperdown custodian Howain Jones was beaten at his near post by a free kick from McKenzie as the ball bounced in front of him and shot off the wet surface and into the back of the net with only four minutes on the clock.

The conditions made it difficult underfoot and Camperdown in particular, struggled to cope.

Mona wrestled full control of the match when Mitchell produced an exquisite chip from the edge of the area which looped over a prone Jones into the back of the net, before Peralto arrived in the box to produce a classic finish to make it 3-0 with barely twenty minutes on the clock.

A minute later Knight gave Camperdown a glimmer of hope when he rose highest to head home a free kick as Mona led 3-1 at the break.

But any chance of a Camperdown second half comeback was blown through the window by the Zhaine Pinnock show, as he thundered home an eight-minute hat-trick.

With half an hour still left to play and the scoreline reading 6-1, it was all about damage control for the visiting team.

Marlon James got Camperdown’s second goal, two minutes later, with a smart finish at the near post to make it 6-2, but Mona plundered three more goals in the time remaining to make it nine points from three games and establish themselves as firm favourites to top the group at the end of the first round of the Manning Cup.

In the other matches in the Group, Wolmer’s remained perfect as well when they tagged Papine 2-0 while Hydel High thumped Kingston High 7-1 to remain third in the group on six points.
