World under-20 champ Kerrica Hill joins Elite track club

KINGSTON, Jamaica— World Under 20 100m hurdles champion Kerrica Hill will be joining the fast rising Elite Performance Track Club, OBSERVER ONLINE understands.

The 17-year-old, who in August set a Championships Record of 12.77 seconds to win the 100m hurdles at the World Athletics Under 20 championships in Cali, will join a training group that includes five-time World Championships gold medallist Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Commonwealth Games 110m hurdles champion Rasheed Broadbell and Commonwealth Games finalist Rushel Clayton as well as World Championships relay medallist Kemba Nelson and Stacey-Ann Williams.

According to highly reliable sources, Hill recently inked an endorsement deal with German sporting goods manufactures Puma in the presence of her parents and will have the Marvin Anderson led Andisportsmanagement as her agents.

Her decision to forgo her remaining years of high school eligibilty and college had created waves in track and field circles.

Elite Performance had six members of the Jamaica team to the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon where Fraser-Pryce won the gold in the 100m, silver in the 200m and another silver in the 4x100m relays where Nelson was also a member while Williams was part of the silver medal winning 4x400m relay team.

Broadbell was the only Jamaican male medallist at the Commonwealth Games where he set a Championships Record 13.08 seconds in winning the 110m hurdles while Clayton was a finalist at both the World Athletics Championships and the Commonwealth Games.

A former Hydel High runner, Hill was also part of two World Under 20 record-breaking 4x100m relay teams – in Nairobi, Kenya in 2021 and Cali, Colombia this year.
