Three more schools advance in D’Cup

ST JAMES, Jamaica – Three more schools -York Castle High, Central High and McGrath High- confirmed their places in the second round of the ISSA/ Digicel daCosta Cup football competition Friday, bringing to six, the number of schools confirmed so far.

They joined Manning,’s School, St Elizabeth Technical and Dinthill Technical, who had booked their spots earlier.

York Castle booked their spot without kicking a ball after Brown’s Town High and Oracabessa High drew 1-1, ensuring that York Castle cannot finish any lower than second with their 16 points.

Oracabessa are in second with 10 points, two more than Brown’s Town and Ocho Rios are on six points.

Central High edged Old Harbour High 3-2 and improved to 15 points at the top of the tables in Zone M. Meanwhile, Glenmuir High beat Tacius Golding 7-0, their fourth straight win and are on the verge of progression as well.

McGrath High joined Dinthill Technical from Zone K after they beat Enid Bennett High 3-0 to go to 21 points and Charlemont were held 1-1 by Ewarton High.

Dinthill wrapped up zone honours with a 1-0 win over Guys Hill, their ninth straight win.

Meanwhile, Jhamaleek Foster scored a first half hat-trick as Manning’s beat Belmont Academy 4-0 in Zone D.

Belair High are the leaders in Zone F after beating Bellefield High 2-1 and are on 18 points, two more than Manchester High, both from seven games, Jamaul Lovelace and Alex Forbes scoring one goal each.

DeCarteret are a point behind Manchester after a 4-1 win over May Day High with Raheem Russell scoring twice and Jaheim Johnson and Douglas Whitely getting one each for the winners.
