Sagicor opens training and hotelling workspace to foster team development

AS part of its dedication to the continued training and development of its team members, Sagicor Group Jamaica recently launched its newest learning and hotelling facility dubbed the Sage Hub. Located at its R Danny Williams head office in New Kingston, the co-working and learning facility is described as an innovative and creative way to promote learning and work comfortably at the same time.

According to Sagicor’s Executive Vice-President, Shared Services Karl Williams, who was speaking at the launch event, the vision of the Sage Hub was born out of a need to adapt to the future of work which demands that employers provide strongly connected, purposeful, and agile workspaces that can benefit the changing needs and expectations of both our team members and the organisation.

“We have to engage in a new normal and the Sage Hub is a diamond that will help our team to continue growing and winning. It has been almost three years of implementing work-from-home methods, and co-working spaces have also become quite popular. We thought creating a facility that incorporated all those elements, along with our usual focus on learning, was a great way to nurture training and development,” he remarked.

The facility consists of two main training rooms; a hotelling space, where team members can reserve their workspace for a designated time; a meeting room to accommodate team meetings and presentations; and five state-of-the-art training hub rooms where one-on-one discussions, career counselling, and virtual training sessions will take place.

Dominique Stone, human resource assistant, Sagicor Group Jamaica, makes use of the Sage Hub’s hotelling workspace.

Williams highlighted that the Sage Hub not only supports Sagicor’s commitment to ensuring team members are equipped with the right tools to unlock their full potential, but it is a testament to the importance of change. He went on to say that, “The formula for growth is that the rate of learning must be greater than or equal to the rate of change around us. Currently, the rate of change around us is accelerating and as such we must examine how are we learning. It is critical that we strive to learn at the same pace as the speed of change so that we do not regress. This multipurpose space was designed with that in mind.”

Team members can access the Sage Hub face to face safely and comfortably or utilise it online with Sagicor learning and development team members through the varied innovative and creative learning initiatives.
